Background information: John Hancock was born on January 23, 1737. He died 1773 of October 8th. He lived in Boston, Massachusetts. His Father died in 1744 and he was sent to live with his aunt and uncle. His wife's name was Dorthy Quincy. He was the governor of Massachusetts and he was the first to sign the Declaration of Independence. His first job was shipping British goods such as rum,whale oil ,and fish.
Accomplishments: He was the first person to sign the Declaration of Independence and he signed the biggest signature. He had a big part in the Revolution was he signed the Declaration of Independence. He approved the Boston Tea Party,and He gave the speech that let every man do what is right in his own eyes.

The Importance of this Patriot: Every Fifth grader should learn about John Hancock because without him we wouldn't be Independent because he was the first to sign the Declaration of Independence. The American colonist made us independence from Great Britain and they looked at his so the colonist broke away from Britain and became there own colony.
